　　A New Banana Cultivar ‘Fenza No.1’

　　A new banana cultivar, ‘Fenza No.1’ (Musa ×pradisiaca ABBB) is a hybrid progeny obtained by the Institute of Fruit Tree Research, Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GDAAS). It is highly resistant to Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (Foc) Tropical Race 4, with a field incidence rate <5% in the seriously diseased area. In addition, ‘Fenza No.1’ is more tolerant to abiotic stresses such as typhoons, waterlogging, and chilling compared with Cavendish bananas. The cultivar is also characterized by high yield (45 t/hm2), good quality (soluble sugar content 21.06%), pleasant flavor, and longer shelf life. It was selected as the 2021 China Agricultural and Rural Major New Products.
